Launched in March 2008, Lumière VFX is one of the newest visual special effects companies to set up in Montreal. Our company is artistically and technically driven, creating first class visual effects for film and TV. We provide our artists with the tools they need to do what they do best: create, animate, embellish and transform elements into breathtaking visual effects.
Lumière believes in the power of creativity and draws talent from Montreal, Canada, and beyond.
Pipeline
As a new company, we've had the luxury of designing a new pipeline. Our artists spend their time being creative, not performing repetitive manual tasks.
We've also invested in a tracker that centralizes all production data, giving our production team, our artists and our clients, up-to-date status on shots and assets.
Our artists use the best tools the industry has to offer: Maya, 3Delight and Shake are all part of our cutting-edge pipeline.
On the Technical Side
Lumière VFX's rendering farm has 344 core using a total of 688GB of ram. We have an Exanet NAS file server that controls 48TB of raw storage space. Our infrastructure is based on a 10-gigabit network with a Force 10 switch at its core. Our artists work primarily on Linux workstations running Intel Nehalem processors and sporting 12GB of ram and a high-end Nvidia Quadro video cards.
To review the artists' work in full resolution and real time, we use a special viewing station running Tweak Software's RV that can read up to 650MB per second sustained -- that's right, one full CD every second.
